Did you miss the meeting on Thursday? Check out the recording below, or if you prefer, the meeting notes are after the jump.

Intro / Welcome

  • General welcome to all new and returning players (there are many, so we won’t be doing specific intros)
    • Include your character name in your Discord name somewhere
  • Brief intro of the raid leads + Uro
    • Quetz
    • Tiraffe
    • Azoll
    • Sark

Guild expectations

  • VISAGE (Visibility, Inclusivity, Support, and Advocacy in Gaming and Esports)
    • No sexism, racism, LGBTQ-phobia, etc.
  • Monthly donations / BoE farms
    • Covers the cost of gems, enchants, potions, feasts, etc – all provided to you for free.
  • Other events
    • Weekend team is not a feeder / alt gearing team. Please respect their autonomy.
    • Occasionally Uro may ping us for additional healers, tanks, etc
    • Check out PvP, sunday funday, organized mythic + nights, normal raid, etc 🙂
  • Premium Services
    • Guild officially pays for Raidbots, wowaudit, Guilds of WoW, and web hosting
    • Individual members have Wipefest, Viserio, and Raidbots
    • If you donate or Nitro boost, you get a fancy color and special channel access.

“We have CE! Now what?”

  • We’re all super proud of you!
  • We’re making some changes to ensure it happens again.
  • We have increased performance expectations
    • We cannot check in with every person every week or point out every mistake
    • Some mistakes are obvious, or should be obvious.
      • If something bad happens to you once, ensure it won’t happen again.
      • If something bad happens to a teammate, take notice of it and ensure it won’t happen to you.
      • If it happens more than once…that’s a problem.
    • Did you parse 100?
      • If no, you can improve.
      • If yes, aim to do it again on the next boss

Player Performance

  • “Raid Awareness is a Learned and Practiced Skill”
    • This is your bible: https://hackmd.io/@kilotl/HamletRaidAwareness
    • Special callouts:
      • “You are your deaths per week”
      • “Your death was not an accident, and it was probably your fault”
      • “Admitting to being the cause of a wipe is laudable”
      • “don’t say “it won’t happen again”. Tell me why it’s unlikely to happen again”
  • Recommend an hour / week of self-reflection as an average.
    • If you are not willing to do this, CE raiding is not for you.
    • Focus on survivability first
      • How much damage did you take from avoidable mechanics?
      • Did you use health pots and defensives effectively?
      • Did you use defensives before or after damage was taken?
      • Did you die to the same mechanic more than once? If so, how?
    • When you compare to your sims, does your damage profile look off?
      • Are you hitting your cooldowns at the same time as everyone else?
      • Are the wrong abilities doing the most (or least) damage?
      • Is your “percent” of damage way off?
      • Compare a quick sim to your opener
    • PoVs of your class / spec on fights are particularly useful – contains specialized recommendations / hints
    • Ask us for help, do “log parties” with friends, use the discord, etc.
    • Raid plan VoD review is useful, too! https://raidplan.io/review
    • Write MRT notes, or cheat and copy them!
  • Other ways to “git gud”:
    • VISAGE Mentorship – not just for minorities! – You get a 1:1 trainer / teacher who is an expert in your class. These mentors are often multi-CE, 3500+ IO, rank 1-5, etc for their spec. Some classes/specs have longer wait times than others. On average we’ve seen up to 20% DPS gains in 1-2 weeks from our mentees in-guild. Everyone has reported positive experiences. Sign up on the VISAGE Discord.
    • Wowanalyzer – Varies per spec but when it works, it works. Often gives you really easy data points to improve upon.
    • Archon – uses live WCL data to help plan out what gear, embellishments, stats, talents, etc you should use.
    • Llorgs – Help plan out your rotation, defensive usage, etc. This is good for personals. Raid CDs (Rally, darkness, healing CDs) are best left to the raid leads & healers to plan.
    • Warcraftlogs – if you can’t read ‘em, ask for help 🙂
    • Raidbots
    • Our discord channels – don’t be embarrassed to ask

Raid-day expectations

  • Rosters will get posted Wednesday night
    • Raids are not “signup” based. You are assumed to be available unless you call out.
    • If you have concerns, please take it up with Azoll
    • People get sat for a lot of reasons.
    • We have a huge roster
    • Deal with it
  • Check boss threads before the night starts.
    • Boss threads will be updated throughout the week.
    • Not everything will be pinged. It is up to you to pay attention to the required channels without pings.
  • Gather at 6:30 to pull boss (not trash) at 7
  • Absent or late (after 6:30) – use the attendance channel, ASAP
    • This includes those who are benched. We need to know who we can call upon.
    • C27!
    • Required addons: MRT, Bigwigs or DBM, Weakauras
      • NEW: Northern Sky Addon!
      • We will share specific notes or packs that are expected to be used per boss, located in threads.
        • Try to use the same “big packs” as others (not using liquid when we use NS, etc)
        • We normally recommend Causese for the “big raid pack”.
  • Gateway control shard (go buy one right now)
  • No toys that make noises or cause your character to shout
    • Race-swapper is fine, but the transmorpher beacon is not
    • No swap blast, toy train, etc.
    • No mage portal roulette, life-grip shenanigans, etc (unless you know they don’t care)
  • Benched players
    • Watch the twitch or Discord streams to be up-to-date
    • Less important for early bosses, much more important for later ones
    • This will keep you up to date on strats
    • You may even earn a “main spot” for the fight if you come in hot

Non-Raid Day Expectations

  • Great Vault
    • M+
      • Everyone should have 8 keys at the highest level they can achieve per week.
        • No direct penalty, but people who fall behind in this will tend to fall behind in raid
      • Until you no longer need vault loot and/or gilded crests
      • You do not have to “push”, just do the minimum viable key to get the gear
      • Use the mythic-raider-keys role ping for guild groups
        • Guild groups are great, but a guild group for every dungeon you need is not realistic. You should expect to pug sometimes.
      • Get 2k ASAP
    • Delves
      • Do T8 delves until you are full on hero gear
      • This is “bad luck protection”.
  • Tuesday Extra Days (not required)
    • Extra raid day
      • Norm/hero raids for tier, trinkets, renown, etc.
    • Study Sessions
      • Some nights we will get together and go over boss videos, raidplans, etc, and start hashing out assignments and look at the bosses together.
      • Will also assign mechanic-specific shotcalls as needed
      • The more people that show up, the easier it will be to start work on a boss come Thursday.

Loot Rules / Rolls / RCLC

    • This part is a bit thorough and we want to make sure everyone is on the same page, especially since quite a number of folks joined during the back half of Undermine where actual prog loot dropped all of 5 times across 4 months.
    • We use readycheck.io for a loot sheet and we use RCLC to manage rolls inside the raid. It’s just as much for our benefit as it is for yours.
      • Make sure you have your loot marked on the lootsheet. There will be a demo of this after the meeting.
        • We don’t use Better BIS, stop clicking that
        • Mark things as BIS, Upgrade, Sidegrade or Offspec
      • Sidenote: Sims for Tier pieces and Power Infusion (Ulria sheet)
        • There are preliminary sims for Power Infusion and sims right now, grain of salt and all that.
        • Doublecheck on Tuesday when the raid drops since there’s no indication with most of the sims which hero talent they’re running with. Should be more reliable
    • Reminder: Tier tokens won’t be loot council’d
      • Those completing 2-set/4-set have priority over those completing 1-set/3-set
        • We’ll have buttons to press in the RCLC addon
      • This based on what you’re currently wearing, not your catalyst charges
        • Don’t game the system, this is intended for immediate upgrades instead of banking up charges so we can smash the next boss
      • If you know that your tier bonus isn’t particularly strong, you are free to pass as you would any other piece of loot
    • Consider holding onto catalyst charges until first vault
  • DON’T USE YOUR CATALYST ON NORMAL GEAR
  • YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE – I KNOW WHO YOU ARE
        • Unless your 2pc is a stupid massive upgrade
        • Again, we’d rather people use their catalyst charges on myth track pieces
    • RCLC
      • Tier 0: 2/4 set (not considering catalyst charge)
      • Tier 1: BiS
        • Never replaced except by same item at higher ilvl
        • If your BiS trinkets/rings come from M+, then you will mark any raid trinkets/rings as “upgrade” or “sidegrade”.
        • Only mark up to two raid trinkets/rings as BIS. If you mark three and you plan to replace one of them, then one of them shouldn’t be marked BIS.
      • Tier 2: Upgrades, catalyst, alts, later trials (not you!)
      • Tier 3: Offspec
      • Tier 4: M+ loot and Transmog (for THIS character only)
        • Hunters and warriors can’t roll daggers; druids can’t roll wands; neither can roll mail.
    • If you plan on building up multiple specs, whichever spec has the most prog time will be your primary spec when it comes to loot
    • Recipes / patterns go to the guild to either sell or distribute to dedicated crafters.
    • BoE’s that drop during raid nights are yours to keep
    • Dinar section
      • No news on the Manaforge equivalent for Dinars at this time
    • Rare/Unique Loot Redux:
      • The way we did Rare loot (heroic/mythic rare loot) was as follows:
        • Rare loot whose effects were negligible for throughput were taken off of the rare loot council.
        • In Nerub’ar Palace, this meant that the rare cloak (survival buff) and the rare neck (mana regain and two vers buffs) were left as open roll.
        • In Undermine, the new rare cloak (movespeed burst) was open roll
      • The remaining items:
        • Ansurek ring (nature damage proc) and Void Reaper’s Warp Blade (agi 1hander, 2set w/ a trinket) were meant to be loot counciled
          • By which I mean they never dropped
        • Best-in-Slots, Capo’s Molten Knuckles and The Jastor Diamond all saw a few pieces being loot council’d off during the season
      • As for how loot council was done:
        • 1. All raidleads were on the council, along with three randomly selected raidmembers per week. Trials were included in this pool, but ineligible to receive rare loot themeelves. There were no repeats and we did about 10 loot councils until we started extending in Mythic (mid-October).
        • 2. The random members were selected around Sunday/Monday night on average. Get a decision by Wednesday night at the latest.
        • 3. Raiders interested in the rare loot would submit a loot sim for the week, with the rare loot simmed at the same ilvl as the piece they would be replacing using a gear compare.
        • 4. Sims were not the sole determinant as attendance, rostering and set bonuses/current gear would also be factored in. We do doublecheck if people had changed their gear after submitting their sims or if their sims are horribly out of date.
        • 5. All loot council members for the week would vote on the priority for the rare loot if it dropped, just in case we managed to get two drops at once. The text channel was also open to discussion for members to argue why someone would get the rare loot over someone else.  Trials would not get prio on rare loot until full members already had them.
      • To give more specific examples from Nerubar Palace:
        • The Void Reaper’s Warp Blade was part of a set bonus with the Void Reaper’s Contract. Thus, anyone that had the trinket got priority over those that didn’t.
        • Likewise, the Seal of the Poisoned Pact had a higher chance to proc if either your spec/hero talents provided nature damage (the more frequent, the better), or if you had a trinket that dealt nature damage (which we put at a lower priority because none of the nature damage trinkets were bis).
      • For Manaforge Omegle, we’re looking at putting the Maw of the Void and the Dimensius ring on the same loot rolls as everything else in the raid, since the effect is negligible.
        • The Maw of the Void 2-hander is the only ‘rare’ loot, but the effect is purely out-of-combat
        • The Dimensius ring effect is purely defense. Way better to let people have it for the actual secondary stats
      • With 4 raidleads, we’ll be pulling in 3 non-raidleads per week this tier again. No duplicates until everyone gets a turn
    • Free-roll:
      • Maw of the Void:
        • An all crit STR/AGI 2-hander with a loot-a-rang on-use. Only good for secondary stats.
      • Band of the Shattered Soul (Dimensius Ring)
        • High haste/Low crit ring with a proc to give a small cosmic damage reduction to you when your cloak procs. Better for folks to have it for the stats.
    • Loot Council:
      • Cantrip boots (Interloper’s [armor type] boots):
        • Cantrip boots from the Soul Hunters boss that boosts the effect of your Reshii Wraps. Given the relative strength of the effects for each role, we’ll have a soft loot council prio of dps > healers > tanks.
        • Lower difficulty cantrip boots provide a smaller bonus to the cloak. It may be worthwhile to prioritize mythic boots on our dps even if the tanks are still missing their cantrip boots.
      • Caster cantrip weapons and the Diamantine Voidcore trinket:
        • Listing these together since every caster will want the weapon, but not every caster wants the trinket as bis (at the time of writing).
  • Sim and doublecheck if crafting a weapon is going to beat any of the cantrip weapons and/or if you need the trinket to beat the crafted
        • Obligatory grain of salt since the raid isn’t out yet, but always doublecheck
          • For example, a crafted myth 2-hander is only beaten by a fully upgraded Hero track sword + crafted myth offhand + having a fully upgraded Hero track voidcore trinket for my Dev Evoker (Tiraffe wrote this)
          • For Vyvelion, a 723 non cantrip + crafted offhand was right behind a 723 Voidglass mainhand + crafted offhand
        • As such we’ll likely only hard loot council the mythic versions
        • The staff will likely perform worse than the 1-handers btw since you lose a weapon embellishment
      • Dps > Healers if 2+ people on the same priority
      • If a set can be completed due to having the trinket, that person will have hard prio over anyone else.
      • Druids and Shamans can’t use sword (7th boss), MW Monk can’t use dagger (6th boss), Holy Pally can’t use dagger or staff (6th or 3rd boss)

Trials & Role Swaps

  • People who took breaks for a tier must re-trial.
    • If you ghost, forget about it.
    • Try to tell us more than a few hours/days in advance if you’re quitting.
      • That’s basically ghosting.
  • You do not have to be in-guild during your trial, but we recommend it, since it makes grouping / distributing consumables easier.
  • Trials officially begin on the day of the first prog raid and last 4 weeks.
    • Feel free to use the trial hub channel if you have questions for us
  • If you want to swap mains, that’s fine! Character swaps should be close to main in power progression

Seasonal Changes

  • None tbh, it’s all the same as last season (including raid renown bonuses)

Questions:

Question:

What does it mean to role swap?

Answer:

Moving between healer to DPS, or DPS to tank, not necessarily 1 DPS to another DPS.

Question:

How do we do boot prio?

Answer:

Tanks last but it’s by armor type not by role 🙂

Question:

If 3 people have something as BiS, do you just look at the RCLC roll?

Answer:

Yes.

Question:

Which addons and As should we download?

Answer: We’ll link it to you in a convenient place in the discord (check the pins)
